"It is our goal to make bridge consoles that do not intimidate the user with their complexity but invite them to simply carry out the tasks at hand."

The helm control panel is one good example of Böning's customization capabilities.

The helm panel is a centerpiece of ship electronics. From here, the captain operates the vessel and its many different systems. It is arguably the most important human-machine interface on board. Most bridge consoles nowadays consist of devices from numerous manufacturers, each having its own unique approach to marine controls, usually complicating overall usability.

Böning has been supplying aluminum foil panels for over 30 years now, for types and sizes of vessels. This experience allows us to prepare quotations and custom solutions in a fast way.

Böning also has accumulated the know-how of integrating third-party helm components, from throttles to windshield wipers controls.

IN-HOUSE
PRODUCTION

Bucking the Trend – These days, outsourcing is a common practice in electronics manufacturing. Böning Automationstechnologie GmbH & Co. KG has chosen a different path.

The majority of our products are manufactured in-house, using the latest production and manufacturing facilities. They are state-of-the-art and meet the highest quality standards. In addition, we apply inspection and testing procedures that meet the high demands of the shipbuilding industry.

Stress and temperature tests qualify and prepare critical components for use in tough environments. We ensure consistent quality through accompanying quality assurance measures, such as electromagnetic compatibility (EMV) or heat and UV irradiation tests.

At Böning, we have an extensive EMV lab at our disposal, which enables us to attain the CE marking and pass the most important test of the classification societies during the development process.

A programmable climatic chamber is available for further environmental tests. The functionality of the test components can be examined under predefined heat/cold conditions. Most modules generally have an operating temperature, ranging from von -30°C to +70°C. Additionally, instruments for outdoor use are tested in a daylight simulator, where they are exposed to high doses of UV light. The effects of powerful solar radiation can be made visible in a short amount of time.
